PLAYGROUND SAFETY

  • Always supervise children when on playgrounds. Make sure you can hear and see them at all times.
  • Children should play on size- and age-appropriate equipment.
  • Take out hood and neck drawstrings from children's clothing. Don't let children wear necklaces, purses, scarves or clothing with drawstrings while on playgrounds.
  • Make sure shoelaces are tied securely to prevent tripping and tangling in equipment. Watch for trip hazards on the playground.
  • Check for dangerous hardware like open "S" hooks or bolt ends that stick out.
  • Openings in guardrails or between ladder rungs should measure less than 3.5 inches or more than 9 inches.
  • There should be no sharp points or edges in equipment.
  • Check playgrounds regularly to make sure the equipment and surfacing are in good condition.
  • Make sure that children use playground equipment safely.

Visit one or all of Murrieta's 50 or Temecula's 26 parks! Many feature walking paths, picnic tables and tot lots. Some even have skateboard areas, amphitheaters and pools. There is something for everyone at the park!
